We are interested in mechanisms that prevent transcription factor-induced conversion of cell types. We are applying forward genetic and RNAi screens using microscopy as well our BioSorter (Union Biometrica) to detect phenotypes related to cell fate reprograming. Our goal is to identify factors that restrict the ability of fate-inducing transcription factors to directly reprogram other cell types upon mis-expression.
Identified factors will be characterized genetically and also biochemically making use of the technology platforms for genomics and proteomics of our host institute. More information about the BIMSB and our group can be found here: http://www.mdc-berlin.de/de/bimsb/index.html.
