A new lab studying C. elegans morphogenesis was recently established in Singapore (http://celladhesionlab.com/). Our lab is interested in the assembly, ultrastructure, composition, and mechanosensory function of cadherin-mediated adhesions and the regulation of adherens junctions from single molecules to embryonic development. We study the formation and regulation of cell adhesion in mammalian cells in culture and during C. elegans embryonic development. We primarily use microscopy to address basic questions about the interplay between cell adhesion and the cytoskeleton and how cells sense and respond to mechanical cues in their environment. Our lab is part of the Mechanobiology Institute in Singapore (http://mbi.nus.edu.sg/).
