Him Mutants

A total of 12 him mutations (which cause increased self progeny male 
frequencies) have been studied in this lab, as well as one unc 
mutation which also has a him effect.  The mutations and some of their 
properties are listed below (20 C phenotypes)
:
All strains produce a small percentage of XXX hermaphrodites.  
Enhanced production of diplo-X ova has been demonstrated in all 
strains.  him-1, him-6 and him-8 appear to affect 
the first (reductional) but not the second (equational) meiotic 
division in oocytes, and also affect meiosis in spermatocytes of 
transformed (XX) males.
