Developmental Biologist

Paul Mains

University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

The University of Calgary Molecular and Developmental Biology Research Group and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology invite applications for a full-time academic position in the field of developmental biology. Our current strengths include molecular, genetic and neurobiological approaches to the study of the development of model organisms, including C. elegans, Drosophila and mice.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. and/or M.D., at least two years of postdoctoral experience and a proven record of excellence in research. The selected candidate is expected to compete successfully for salary support and establishment funding from the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research and/or the Medical Research Council of Canada; we anticipate that generous start up funds will be available to a qualified candidate. While duties include some teaching and graduate student supervision, 75% of time will be protected for research. Calgary is a beautiful and vibrant city (pop. 800,000), located within an hour of the Rocky Mountains and Banff National Park.

In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. The University of Calgary is committed to Employment Equity.
