A postdoctoral position is available to work on an MRC funded pilot project to develop and implement methods for large-scale systematic functional analysis of the C. elegans genome, taking advantage of the imminent completion of the genomic sequence. Methodological development to produce gene knockouts by genomic deletion will involve collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Ronald Plasterk (Amsterdam). Applicability of antisense methods will also be investigated. Relevant experience in C. elegans biology is preferable. Funding is available for two years from April 1998 in the first instance. To apply, please send C.V. and names and addresses of two referees to Ms. Mary Morgan, The Sanger Centre, Wellcome Trust Genome Campus, Hinxton, Cambs CB10 1SA, or, for further information, contact Alan Coulson (Tel: 01223-834244; email alan@sanger.ac.uk).
